This truly is England's green and pleasant land! We stayed here this week in this stunning quaint cottage (two couples), recently renovated to a superb standard, which is at the end of a little lane in a quiet village in the most beautiful part of Cornwall. Both double rooms were very clean, beds comfy and cosy and the place felt like a home from home with an hour of being there (thanks to the log burner and logs). The place was so so quiet and peaceful, surrounded by farmland and pastures. Great for walking. Also great see the old pictures of the saw mill as it was 100yrs ago. On arrival the owners Louise and Jamie were very friendly and helpful about the house and local area/shops/etc. We were also greeted with a lovely freshly baked loaf from their (Louise's) bakery next door and a cracking bottle of stout which Jamie brews. The next day Jamie then offered to show us around the micro brewery when we came back from the shops, so we then spent a couple of hours with him whilst he finished making a new batch of Pale Ale. We had a really excellent time in the brewery/bake house and learnt a lot as Jamie explained the methods and ended up joining in and helping with the brewing process. A real treat for an ale drinker and we were rewarded with a few more bottles of the delicious Stout! The area itself is stunning and close to so many lovely seaside villages, ports and towns. The cottage was easily accessible from the A38 in minutes and close to Plymouth, which was 30mins away by car. Overall we had an excellent time and we said we'd come back next year, when we will look forward to more delicious bread and earning some more Ales in the brewery again! Cheers!
Beautiful cottage finished to a high standard extremely clean, very cosy and felt very much at home. Location is fantastic with lots to do and see. Owners were very friendly and great at offering advice for places to visit. Couldnt fault this holiday cottage its was a perfect getaway and will be visiting again next year. Richard and Louise
Beautiful place to stay with all the most cons you could ever want. The cottage is a conversion of an old saw mill and has been sympathetically restores with loads of charm and original features. Good location and able to be on the south coast in 25 minutes and north coast in 40 minutes. We found pretty much the whole of Cornwall was accessible in an hour's drive. Jamie was a superb host and we were even greeted with a home brew beer, milk and homemade bread. Would highly recommend.
Had a wonderful week down in Cornwall staying at The Old Sawmill. It really is a credit to The owners. We will be back, hopefully when its a bit cooler so we can use the lovely log burner. Jamie and Louise are great hosts offering lots of useful information about the local area also.
The Sawmill is the perfect cottage for a relaxing holiday. Set in the idyllic Cornish countryside it is beautifully decorated, cosy and has all the conveniences you could ask for. We took our 8 month year baby and found the Sawmill comfortable, clean and spacious enough for him and all his toys.Despite the serene surroundings, it is only a short drive to the beach and local amenities, with lots of bays and coastal towns nearby to explore. It's also a great base for exploring Cornwall, and reduces your journey time by an hour if traveling from London, compared to the west coast of Cornwall - perfect! Jamie and Louise were great hosts, they were extremely helpful and respected our privacy.
